Don't Tell a Soul (Deluxe Edition)

After emerging from and defining the Minneapolis music scene of the early 1980s and issuing a series of seminal releases on Twin/Tone, The Replacements signed to Sire Records in 1985. Don't Tell a Soul, the band's third for the label, features three-quarters of the legendary founding line-up of lead singer and songwriter Paul Westerberg, Chris Mars (drums) and Tommy Stinson (bass) - Slim Dunlap replaces original guitarist Bob Stinson, who departed after 1985's Tim. Rhino's newly remastered and expanded edition of this 1989 classic - which Rolling Stone called "an audacious album" - features the original 11-song set plus 8 bonus tracks, including three previously unreleased rarities.

Produced by Matt Wallace in Los Angeles (with mastering by Bob Ludwig), Don't Tell a Soul introduced "I'll Be You," a #1 Billboard modern rock track and the band's first single to chart on the Hot 100. Other highlights include the album opener "Talent Show," "Achin' To Be" and "Back To Back." Among the 8 bonus tracks are "Date To Church" with Tom Waits and previously unissued finds including a demo for "Talent Show" and an alternate mix of "We'll Inherit The Earth."
