2005, C Student Records
The much anticipated full length album from The Eames Era has finally arrived. Low-fi garage pop five piece The Eames Era formed in the fall of 2002 around a group of friends at Louisiana State University. The clean and angular melodies, the workman rhythms and luminous vocals reference the aesthetics of the design duo Charles and Ray Eames from which the band takes their name. Like the high design of the 50's, The Eames Era blends availability with an informed sense of the history of their craft. "This album gives me the shivers in a lot of ways. Listening to a really good pop band that's so excited to play pop-rock music against such crazy odds... that's great. That's big. That's right on the money." - Matt Weir, Tinymixedtapes.com

Customer Reviews

Nick ReadingWhat more could you want from an album. This is as close to perfection as you could possibly get, why they haven't got more critical acclaim and more fame as well, is beyond me. From start to finish it is incredibly difficult to find even the slightest blemish on this record. None of the songs fall below excellent. It is what pop music should sound like, rather than the appalling state of music that is found in the charts these days. Similar to Rilo Kiley but with slightly catchier songs and more sunshine added in to the mix. "Listen For The Sun", shows this down to a tee. Ashlin Phillips has a voice that, although unconventional, is just amazing and added to the solid drum beats and awesome guitar riffs; it makes The Eames Era addictive. Once you've heard them you'll just want more and more.
