2004, Reaction
Back in the mid-80s Washington DC's Crippled Pilgrims released an LP and mini-LP that are now available for the first time on CD on Reaction Recordings. Crippled Pilgrims were part of the vanguard of the DC rock scene, the band the storied Discord punks couldn’t stomach, the songs being too "experimental" and "beautiful". Odd as the band members served in DC combos like Death Camp 2000, Velvet Monkeys, Trenchmouth, Government Issue, Geezer Park, and 9353. While Crippled Pilgrims' visceral garage rock and neo-psychedelia conjure influences of the era (Television, Wire, Beatles, Grateful Dead, Rain Parade, Dumptruck, Green On Red, Meat Puppets, Dream Syndicate), it is as current sounding as it is an echo of the past. Down Here compiles their Under Water LP, the Head Down-Hand Out MLP, and two unreleased radio session tracks. 16-page booklet, photos, and extensive liner notes.
