2005, Rough Trade
Down in Albion is the debut album from Pete Doherty and Babyshambles. It is without doubt on of the most anticipated albums of the year. It's an honest, rough, ready and shambolic yet beautiful album taking in skiffle, reggae tinged punk, and classic english indie rock music. Former Clash member Mick Jones' 'raw' production style will be familiar to listeners of the Libertines' two albums, and it often works here, by giving the blistering rock songs such as 'Pipe Down', 'Killamangiro' or '8 Dead Boys' suitably wild and reckless energy. this is an album that shows the bands true soul and passion.
