VINYL FORMAT. "Having been granted access to Rudy Ray Moore's Dolemite soundtracks, underground hip-hop producer/rapper Oh No crafted the great Ohnomite, an album honoring the Avenging Disco Godfather's film work with top-notch rappers like DOOM, Guilty Simpson, Phife Dawg, and Erick Sermon providing the rhymes. Here, Oh No "hands the tracks over to his alter ego Dr. No," who strips the vocals and reloops the loops, while unearthing some sampled blaxploitation that wouldn't fit on the original release, all of this meaning that this is essentially the instrumental "beat album" companion to Ohnomite. Honomite would have been more in the Rudy Ray spirit but the title Dr. No's Tornado Funk fits the chaotic, whirlwind feel as 36 short, funky tracks whip past, plus that karate-chop, superhero artwork is spot-on too, as that stiff '70s high-kicking style of funk dominates. The highlight has to be "3 Dollar Club," which strips DOOM's lyrics off the original "3 Dollars," allowing its stuttering telegraph riff to come through loud and clear, but the flute-driven "Escape" is a close second, sounding like what pimps would rock to on their yachts if they loved turntablism as much as dirty money. It's all sequenced and mixed together with care, making this a beat album that can be embraced by aspiring DJs and fans as well, but Ohnomite is still the overall winner thanks to its wider appeal." – All Music Guide
