2010, Quannum Projects
'This is the sixth solo album from Los Angeles-based rapper Pigeon John. His last album was 2007's Pigeon John Featuring Pigeon John Two. Herve Salters and Pigeon John produced the album. The album begins with 'The Bomb,' which has a funky synth laced over a cool drumbeat. Pigeon John's flow combined with his lyrics work really well with the beat. Sounds of a tuba open up 'Rock Bottom Again.' The biographical lyrics are fun and mesh well with the brass and keys that comprise the instrumentals. 'Hey You' trades in the synths for a live a band, and thus, heavier sounding. It sounds like early N.E.R.D. but more rocking. The veteran rapper is at it again with his unique brand of hip-hop, albeit a tad different from his earlier material. What remains the same, though, are his clever lyrics, which include using Molly Ringwald, Super Mario and Vince Young respectively, along with imaginative storytelling - the hallmark of good hip-hop. This album is sure to be a big hit among the underground, hipster hip-hop crowd.' - Filter Magazine
