Draw It In the Dark

VINYL FORMAT. LIMITED TO 750 COPIES! Fresh off tour supporting Deerhoof, this release is something of a companion piece to Flying's second album. This deluxe-package release features songs from the album, one previously unreleased alternate take and a compilation of 10 music videos curated by the band as a collaboration with many of the artists they admire. Artist Dana Schutz graces the covers of the 7" and the DVD with two paintings whose poise between chaos and harmony mirror the musical aesthetic for which Flying has become known. The videos show a range of unconventional responses to the band's music, from the somber, subtly wry meditations of Brittany Gravely's films, to Jonathan Kendler's cartoon tribute to Middle Eastern cinema of old, to Catherine Ross's dead-pan minimalist masterpiece Twin Sisters. Also included here are several videos by the band: Stains, a psychedelic group-dance-therapy-experiment directed by Sara Magenheimer, and Eben Portnoy's hand-painted Super-8 montage Minors.
