2005, Thirsty Ear
DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid has teamed up with Dave Lombardo (drummer for Slayer) to see what one of the world's best DJs could do with beats supplied by the best thrash metal drummer of all time. Added to the mix are the talents of Chuck D from Public Enemy and legendary Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid. To bring it all together, Meat Beat Manifesto co-produced Drums of Death along with DJ Spooky.
Customer Reviews

Justin TimeI don't know man...I was pretty excited about getting this album, I mean we're talking about some solid players here - Dave Lombardo, DJ Spooky, even Chuck D (who also makes a freaky little appearance on the Utah Saints album, Two) drops a few lines. With this album, Drums of Death (killer name for an album, too) I expected abstract, I expected power, I expected expanded consiousness and really, I got none. Instead, I got wimpy, weird and whatever. It's really too bad. Check out DJ Spooky's File Under Futurism and Modern Mantra albums for the no-trix, real deal. Listen to Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet for Chuck D in true form.
