2004, Kranky
Ex-Fontanelle/Nudge/Emergency guy, Paul Dickow, releases his second album under the Strategy name. "Drumsolo's Delight" is an interesting collision between electronic prog and real-time musicianship, wiring together Dickow's programming and performing experience via a hodgepodge of tabletop electronics, computers, and live performing. Combining a granular ambient aesthetic with an abstract, percolating rhythmic sensibility, Strategy unites small parts into complete melodies motivated by complex pulsations. The Portland Mercury described Dickow as "Portland's laptop prankster/meister of disquo."
