2003, Yoyo
Nomy Lamm is a badass, fatass, Jew, dyke, amputee, performance artist, writer and activist. She
has co–written and performed in several queer punk theatrical productions, including the
post–apocalyptic rock opera The Transfused and Dr. Frockrocket’s Vivifying (Re–Animatronic)
Menagerie & Medicine Show. In 1997, she was named one of Ms. Magazine’s “Women Of The Year.”
In addition to Anthem, her debut CD on Talent Show Records (2000), Lamm released The
Transfused soundtrack on Yoyo Recordings in 2000. Nomy Lamm’s newest release, Effigy, is an
electronic powerhouse and her strong, bluesy voice is definitely the high–test fuel. The songs
range from gentle and moving to positively bounce–along–able. Lamm is backed by a drum
machine, keyboard and sound effects, but dismisses the traditional methods of programming.
Her novel approach to these electronic devices leads to a refreshing new sound and her lyrics pack a poignant political punch.
