Singer Dick Valentine, guitarists Rock and Roll Indian and Surge Joebot, bassist Disco, and drummer M. formed the Wildbunch in 1996 (keyboardist Tait Nucleus? joined the band later), releasing their debut single, "I Lost Control (Of My Rock & Roll)," and the eight-track {^An Evening with the Many ...[more]

Electric Six is done trying to not sound like their first record, Fire, and wants to go home...but can never completely go home. Electric Six wants big loud guitars and fuzz basses intertwined with the occasional R&B jam. With their sixth album, Kill, they prove they can still sound like Fire, but its now sprinkled with what they've learned. They can go back to the skull-crushing guitars and disco grooves, but they will be cooked in an avant-garde reduction sauce. Kill doesn't re [ read more ]

Detroit's Electric Six offer up thirteen songs of all styles, sounds, genres, and themes. From the bouncy "I Buy The Drugs" to the Def Leppard/Journey-esque "Night Vision" to the super-smooth "Infected Girls", old school E6 mavens will find just the right amount of puerile yet groovy concoctions that make them want to become one with their aggression. It's a feel-good, drive-around-in-your-car-with-the-top-down summer staple.

Detroit's Electric Six quickly made a name for themselves in the UK and US with hit singles "Gay Bar" and "Danger! High Voltage". Senor Smoke was released in the UK in early 2005 to much acclaim. Metropolis, interested in broadening the scope of music they released, signed the band and is proud to now bring them back to their native soil. Senor Smoke blends a mixture of disco, garage, punk, and indie rock with clever (but sincere) tongue in cheek one liners. Electric Six will change the way yo [ read more ]

High Voltage" -- one of the most immediate, crazed singles in years -- the band would still have the distinction of being one of the most unique-sounding one-hit wonders in late 20th century memory. Fire doesn't necessarily offer proof that this won't be Electric Six's ultimate fate, but it does suggest that they have more tricks up their sleeve than might be expected. It's true that "Danger! High Voltage" is easily t [ read more ]
