The music of Frog Eyes is strange, in the way that the music of The Birthday Party, Tom Waits, The Fall or Beefheart can be strange. Jarring, cryptic, unsettling, imaginative and unforgettable. The songs found on Emboldened Navigator are among their earliest recordings, recorded straight to tape with no mixing or overdubs. All four songs are previously unreleased and are easily amongst their most raw, lo-fi and powerful thus far.
