REISSUE. Originally released in 2002 on the Touch label, this is an exceptionally beautiful record that has acquired a substantial cult status. Englaborn was derived from music Johannsson wrote for an Icelandic play of the same name. It was written for string quartet, piano, organ, glockenspiel, and percussion. These elements were processed and manipulated, adding delicate electronic backgrounds to the otherwise entirely acoustic recordings.
