2004, Swami
The Swami has opened his vaults one more time to recirculate a piece of San Diego punk rock history. Pitchfork was the band before Drive Like Jehu, Rocket From the Crypt, and before Rick picked up a guitar and John Reis turned Speedo and started to sing. "Eucalyptus" (originally released on the hardcore label Nemesis) was deemed a quintessential slice of pre-gold-rush post-punk with melodic and indie stylings. Groomed on Squirrelbait, Dischord Records, Honor Role, Sonic Youth, and all that was 1987, Pitchfork blended post-punk angularity and white boy, suburban, BMX pent-up frustration with a melodic punk sound.

Customer Reviews

Jackson RiktonThis is one of the best and yet unheard of albums of the punk/indie genre. Later more highly acclaimed works by band members were a let down for me (Drive Like Jehu or Rocket from the Crypt). But this album is eternal.
