Ex Tropical exudes everything that makes for a great album; heart, soul, sensuality and reflection all set to the swagger and sway of a dry and thumping bass line and bouncing rattling drum machine. Front and center is Jarrod's voice and lyrics; cryptic, cool, sincere, and spoken in a tone that is calming and unflappable. It is this voice, combined with that bass and with those drums spoke of, lovingly peppered by keys, marimba, brass, and xylophone, that make Ex Tropical sound fresh and new.
