In the late '80s, there was a short-lived hybrid called hip-house, mixing the earthy vocal rhythms of rap and the cold electronic beats of house music. Anime sensibilities and underground hip-hop attitude mingle with disco flourishes, funky breakbeats, and a bit of experimental dub's crackling reverb in Fat Jon's world. He's only one-fourth of the Five Deez crew, but his frenetic production on Kinkynasti can't help but overshadow the serviceable rapping.
