2011, Barsuk Records
VINYL FORMAT. The Globes were formed in their teenage years (recently - the youngest member is 21), spending afternoons in their sleepy city of Spokane, Washington collaboratively dissecting and interpreting the fundamentals of songwriting while forging together their own musical inspirations. Now only a few years later they are proving to be an earnest musical force. 2010 saw the band log in about 30,000 miles touring with Menomena, A Place To Bury Strangers, Minus The Bear, and others, consistently selling tons of merch and leaving all-important word-of-mouth excitement in their wake. The Seattle press has already warmed to the band, with The Stranger lauding their "carefully crafted guitar rock that's beautiful, but with a bang," and The Seattle Weekly finding "hints of darkness and discord...moody yet warm, deep and lovable. It's the ideal kind of music to get attached to, not demanding attention but definitely meriting it." Future Self was written by The Globes and produced by John Goodmanson (Blonde Redhead, Death Cab for Cutie, Sleater-Kinney, etc). It promises to be one of the best rock records of 2011.
