Subtitled: A Critical Odyssey Through UK Rock, Pop, Folk And Jazz From The 1960s And 1970s. Galactic Ramble is, by far, the most thorough critical overview of 1960s and 1970s British popular music ever published. It contains reviews of thousands of albums, spanning rock, pop, folk, R&B, jazz, beat, psych, prog, garage, Xtian and much more, both major label releases and private pressings. The book includes household names such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and The Who, as well as masses of lesser-known luminaries, and is certain to appeal to thousands of serious music fans and record collectors worldwide. Galactic Ramble has been edited by Richard Morton Jack (co-founder of Sunbeam Records), and is written by a team of experts including Patrick Lundborg and Aaron Milenski (co-authors of The Acid Archives), Richard Falk (one of the world's leading folk music authorities), Tony Higgins (producer of the BBC's acclaimed "Seven Ages Of Rock" and curator of Universal's Impressed Repressed jazz series) and David Wells (owner of the esteemed Tenth Planet label). Galactic Ramble is A4 in size, with the text on each page divided into three columns. Wherever possible, albums have been dated to their precise month of release, and extracts from contemporary reviews have been included alongside new ones, to add useful perspective. The text is broken up by many rare illustrations culled from the pages of contemporary music journals, in addition to which there are two sections of full-color plates, showing the covers of 288 rare LPs. Galactic Ramble features an introduction by legendary record producer David Hitchcock (Aardvark, Black Cat Bones, Caravan, Mellow Candle, Pink Fairies), and has numerous top ten lists in the back, as well as a list of non-album 45s by many of the acts in the book. Paperback; 298 x 210 mm; 550 pp.; B&W photos throughout, with 2 sections of color plates.
