2000, Modern Radio
"This is the Twin Cities last great three piece noise band. Grotto combines all of the fury, heavy, and savvy of AmRep's closet, but this six-year old outfit has a very refreshing take on the genre being that they probably weren't ever allowed into the shows that made Minneapolis famous a few years back. The oldest member will be freshly 21 years-old at press time. The rhythm section (Jeff Brown and Mike Dombrock) is rock solid, and Chris Mishek's vocals and guitar come off as a perfect blend of Superchunk and Unwound. Some of the most energetic and urgent shows I've ever seen have been performed by Grotto in random basements, coffee shops, and dirty bars. Expect great things from St. Paul's new, young hope..."-Hit it or Quit It
