Ghana Soundz is a painstakingly assembled collection of Afro-beat and Afro funk, most of which has never been released outside of Africa and some of which is unreleased anywhere. This series forms a unique window on a scene previously unknown outside of Ghana. Pounding rhythms, blaring horns and pumping vocals -- the music is a document of a time forgotten. Influenced as much by traditional rhythms and local highlife as by the music of Fela Kuti, James Brown and Santana, these tunes had almost become extinct.
