2009, Kill Shaman
San Francisco quintet Crime In Choir are an instrumental rock band, comparable to Faust, Goblin, Magma, Soft Machine, and King Crimson. Founded in 2000, Crime In Choir released their previous full-length releases on GSL (2006's Trumpery Metier), Frenetic Records (2004's The Hoop) and Omnibus (2002's self-titled debut), respectively. Comprised of founding members of the original At The Drive-In (pianist Kenny Hopper and guitarist Jarrett Wrenn), as well as members of The Fucking Champs (drummer Tim Soete), Jonas Reinhardt (synth player Jesse Reiner and Kenny Hopper), and The Mass (saxophonist Matt Waters), Crime In Choir have an impressive pedigree and an even more impressive sound. Described by Pitchfork Media as "an indie-prog monolith, blending intense mathrock spazz-outs with dense, dreamy melodies," Crime In Choir have created a name for themselves among the ranks of prog-revivalists.
