2009, Cherry Red Records
Go-Kart Mozart is the third incarnation of Birmingham's greatest enigmatic prodigy, Lawrence Hayward. A noted inspiration of luminaries such as Belle and Sebastian and Pulp, Lawrence originally rose to prominence as the understated lead singer & principal songwriter of the revered indie band Felt, releasing ten albums in ten years on Creation, El & Cherry Red before disbanding. Lawrence would later return in Denim, a glam rockin' fusion of his previous moniker before disappearing & re-emerging for a third time in the guise of Go-Kart Mozart.
With music forums currently riddled with rumours about a brand new Go-Kart Mozart album on the way, Cherry Red present the first ever Go-Kart Mozart collection.
Including some of the finest moments from Instant Wigwam and Igloo Mixture & Tearing Up The Album Charts, this self-titled compilation demonstrates the lyrical wizadry & song writing talent of Lawrence Hayward's life after Felt. Blending Pseudo-novelty indie-pop with a biting social commentary & sharp satire impossible to ignore. .
