2011, Hopeless
A folk rock album filled with harmonizing, and gang vocals, intense guitars, hard drum beats and layers of banjo, mandolin, trumpet, piano and lap steel, Go, And Sell All of Your Things from Damion Suomi & The Minor Prophets will have you getting lost in its foot stomping and heart pounding songs. Lyrically, Go, and Sell All of Your Things tells the tale of the hero's journey, a poetic parallel of the universal struggle, and the transformation that results, when one chooses to let go and embrace the life that has been inside of them all along. As the story begins to unfold before the listener, the role that the instrumentation plays on the record emerges purposefully as a musical score, accompanying the hero along the way. Yet with all of the depth and metaphor found on Go, and Sell All of Your Things, Damion Suomi and The Minor Prophets have crafted a record that remains wonderfully accessible, inviting the listener to become a part of the story right from the start. The record is inspired by and dedicated to the memories of Damion Suomi's father Duane, Joseph Campbell and Charles Bukowski.
