2004, GSL
GSL's received a number of great demos and recordings from its extended family and friends during the past couple of years, especially from the three metropolitan areas the label has called home at one time or another - the Bay area, San Diego, and Los Angeles - which makes it hard not to gloat with "local" pride! While the rest of the planet sucks up slime like "The O.C." and the Warped Tour, it's refreshing to know that greener pastures exist for anyone remotely interested in a genuine form of California (counter-)culture in 2004. One or two of the bands will be familiar to GSL-brand consumers, but most are "unknown", or have hard-to-find records out. At any rate, all of them are top-notch, GSL-quality fingers in the face of generic alt-rock and mall-punk. They're ripe for discovery and low on exposure, but that's the whole point! Featuring: Wives, 400 Blows, Tender Buttons, Die Princess Die and many more!
