2004, Monolake (Germany)
A collection of tracks from the two more recent Monolake 12" EPs ("Fragile/Static" and the "Ice" side of "Ice/Stratosphere") with more new material from Robert Henke (who appears to now be the sole Monolake member) with input from Gerhard Behles. "Gravity" has mostly familiar (but no less stunning) sunken kicks and aqueous pads, with the occasional rhythmic experiment (especially on "Static" with its blunted two-step feel). The transition from post-BCP analog hiss studies into completely laptop (Max/MSP and Reaktor, specifically)-based production methods has altered the outcome little; all of the trademark space and sub remains intact. Still as vital as the initial offerings, worth its weight in grain. Icy.
