Sensitive balladry alongside full frontal pop anthems with hooks, hooks, hooks that cleverly mask the fact that the lyrics are of the severe downer unlucky in love variety. The comparisons around here range from sounding a little like Mark Kozelek/Red House Painters, to Pedro The Lion and Elliot Smith. The best thing yet on Global Symphonic, already one of Canada's best new labels.
