2005, Mute
Sweden's Mando Diao release their sophomore album Hurricane Bar, which was produced and mixed by Richard Rainey, and follows their debut breakthrough album from 2003, Bring 'Em In. Among other projects, Rainey is most known for his contributions to U2's 11 million-selling album All That You Can't Leave Behind, for which he won 3 Grammy awards. Hurricane Bar, recorded in the U.K. this summer in between European festival gigs, filled with the type of tight hooks and clear melodies that the quartet introduced on their debut album, with the 2 guitarists - Gustaf Carl-Johan "CJ" Fogelklou and drummer Samuel Giers round out the group, whipping up a moody, hurricane-like rhythm section.
