New album from DC outfit, The Hurricane Lamps. "Sing Me a Song" is the band's fourth album and the follow-up to last year's critically acclaimed "Tilting at Windmills." This time out the lamps' mid-fi, turbo-charged noise pop is buttressed by a lush, more fully realized sound, and denser arrangements. But fear not: the rawk remains, they deal in lead, friends. Fuzz-pop with a freak on, it recalls the Flying Nun roster, Sebadoh, Swervedriver, and The Wedding Present, or any kind of propulsive pop that bleeds melodic energy.
