Hymie's Basement

Hymie's Basement is a special collaboration between Yoni Wolf (member of the anticon collective and cLOUDDEAD) and Andrew Broder (the man behind Fog). Their eponymous album was recorded in a basement studio underneath the renowned Minneapolis record store, Hymie's, and recorded onto 1/4 inch tape (with the vinyl cut straight to wax at 45rpm), resulting in a lo-fi classic that sounds about as richly and beautifully analogue as you can get. The album touches on the sounds of The Breeders, Pavement, Ween, Beck, and other classy indie artists, but of course it's unique. Yoni and Andy are the guys behind projects such as cLOUDDEAD, Why?, Reaching Quiet, and Fog, and you can hear their experimental aesthetic wrapped around the beautiful songs that make up the album.
