2009, Outside Music
This band needs no introduction. Mali's Tinariwen follow up their break through album with Imidiwan.
Tinariwen have received accolades from just about every music fan, critic and musician out there today. It's hardly surprising as it's impossible not to get hooked on their effortlessly cool blues and funk jams. From playing in the desert in Mali under the Sahara sun to Glastonbury Festival in the UK these guys have been propelled into a new stage in their musical career after international acclaim after the release of Aman Iman.
The group who, have been playing together for 30 years shows no hint this new found fame has affected them. Their signature rhythmic style is as strong as ever, like Led Zeplin or Kraftwerk Tinariwen has an immediately recognizable sound of there own. Using western music as a muse, Tinariwen uses expression in the vocals as a way to communicate to the audience. The meaning of words and language become secondary to sound and tone imbuing the songs with emotion that easily translates to anyone no matter where you're from.
Highest Recommendation!!
