1995, Touch and Go Records
This Kim Deal-produced EP offers what has become one of the band's best known tunes, Go Freaks Go. The squalling opening notes and rhythmic refrain justify the recognition it has received among the band's fans. Silver Iodine is one of the most melodic songs in the Brainiac catalog and points in a direction that the band would continue in on the 1997 EP, Electro-Shock for President. Taylor's haunting melody hovers just above a swirl of static, bleeps, distortion and a computerized speaker. The effect is chilling and signals additional exciting work to come. ~ Brian Christopher Egan, All Music Guide
