2005, Saddle Creek
Orenda is one half of Georgia's Azure Ray. This is her first solo release. After traveling extensively in India, Cambodia, and Haiti, she penned this inspired, bold, perceptive, and real album that soars with unassuming brilliance. It relates a human journey from inward to outward, crossing boundaries of self and culture to find reconciliation with guilt, betrayal, tragedy, and regret. Orenda weaves empathetic tales of struggle with compositions that by turns haunt and offer clarity. It's troubled but ultimately optimistic. Enigmatic and soulful. Featuring appearances by Todd Fink (The Faint), Scott Amendola, Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio), Martin Perna (Antibalas), Dan McCarthy (Mayday and McCarthy Trenching), Nate Walcott (Bright Eyes, The Faint, Rilo Kiley), Patterson Hood (Drive-By Truckers), and Rozna Zila and Sandy M. Saint-Cyr (Troupe Macandal).
