2004, Lookout! Records
In addition to having the most overly referential band name and album title to come along in some time, J.D. Salinger and the Winona Ryders manage to put the tiniest bit of a twist on the average pop-punk format -- the record adds a bit of snot and attitude to the typical Lookout release, and winds up in an almost interesting spot that lies somewhere between pop-punk and hardcore. Given that punk bands tend to gravitate toward one end or the other and stay firmly there, a little credit has to be given to the Winona Ryders for carving out a punk niche that hasn't already been done to death. ~ Nitsuh Abebe, All Music Guide
