2010, Tee Pee Records
VINYL FORMAT. Jason Simon, best known for his work as the guitarist and singer for the seminal heavy psych band Dead Meadow, releases his first solo record, on Tee Pee Records. The eponymous affair is a stripped down and intimate record filled with intricate guitar work and poignant, well-thought lyrics. There are slight shades of Bert Jansch, Leonard Cohen, Sandy Bull, and Townes Van Zandt, but only shades as it is most certainly its own thing. It is a record to remind the listener that heavy does not come from loud distortion and huge drums but comes from the depth within the song itself.
