Formed in 1968, Jethro Tull are one of rock's most enduring bands. Their 1971 album Aqualung, with its provocative lyrical content and continuous music shifts, is Tull's most successful and most misunderstood record. Here, music professor and fan Allan Moore tackles the album on a track-by-track basis, looking at Ian Anderson's lyrics and studying the complex structures and arrangements of these classic songs.

Excerpt:
"It was buying your first great-coat that did it. That image of a crazy, probably dangerous individual with unkempt hair, strangely wandering eyes and an inability to keep both feet on the floor at the same time, as seen on Top of the Pops when Jethro Tull and his anonymous backing musicians performed 'Witch's Promise' in 1970, remains to this day one of the most striking I can recall. And when the great-coat appeared in all its glory clothing Jethro's alter ego on the cover of Aqualung, it was clear to us that we were insiders, that we lived in exactly the same crazy world, that we 'knew what it was all about', even if we actually hadn't a clue."

I hate to admit this, but I have all my old 33rpms. I
checked out CDs from the library and burned copies for my CD collection. I did this because I could NOT find a stylus for my record player.

Aqualung was one of the first rock-n-roll LP's that I bought,(that wasn't a Beatle album). Also, "Thick as a Brick". I also purchased "Wishbone Ash"; "Argus"...of course
ALICE COOPER!

But, the radio station, WEBN in Cin, Ohio, played the heck out of the title songs. My personal favorites were the
acoustic songs like "Wondering Aloud".

Being a teen in those times are some of the best memories
I have as a young, impressionable person. So everytime
I hear a song off the radio,(it's now considered classic
rock), I thing about my teen years and how much fun it was,
(i'm now 50)! Shoot, I saw them in concert twice, and necked countless times to it! (Don't tell my mom, ok)? LOL!

So, "AQUALUNG" is one of my all-time favorites!!

Incidently, I found your web-site by a link from a fashion
article. I was looking for the A B C book yhat was radicle! I want to purchase it to read to my grandson. Can you send me a catalog?

Thanks for the good memories..i.e. Aqualung"!
