2011, Music on Vinyl
VINYL FORMAT. Limited to 1,000 copies! The Jimi Hendrix Experience has two incarnations. The first, that played, toured and recorded together from 1966 to 1969, featured Mitch Mitchell on drums and Noel Redding on bass and recorded three legendary albums. After Noel left, the other two continued to play in different formations, until The Experience 'reunited' with Billy Cox on bass in 1970. Both incarnations are celebrated on this 7". The A side consists of a spectacularly thrilling "Johnny B. Goode" recorded in 1970; the flipside is a rendition of "Purple Haze" recorded at the Winterland in 1968. This recording has never before been released on vinyl – in fact, it's never been released at all – and is a different recording from the one appearing on the Winterland box set.
