1969, Love Letters Ink
VINYL FORMAT. Limited to 1,000 copies! We seek the comfort of those still living, the advice of therapists, distract ourselves with insignificant tasks, but we never truly get over the loss of a loved one. Closure does not exist. But, over time, though our stride is never the same, we learn to walk again. Tom Krell, aka How To Dress Well, lost his best friend, Ryan Hitchon, late last year. And in the wake of his death, he penned the sedated, gauzy "Suicide Dream 3," lined with a subtle tinge of anger, desperately reaching out to a hand that will never reach back. But opening wounds only exacerbates the healing process, so when Krell returned to "Suicide Dream 3? in early 2011, he envisioned the song as a memorial to someone he loved and remembered well, rather than a permanent reminder of tragedy. From there, the song transformed into an orchestral wonder, drenched in lush string arrangements and Krell's devastatingly forlorn falsetto. The result was so powerful that Krell decided to romanticize three more tracks from his catalog that were orchestral in nature. And, thus, the Just Once EP was born, a one-time-only orchestral approach to HTDW's dark and murky sound. Each physical copy comes with a hand-written letter from Tom Krell, and a password to view exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the "Suicide Dream 2? recording.
