Kristian, Shalabi, St-Onge

Alien8 Recordings has released 4 full-length CDs with David Kristian (Cricklewood, Woodworking: Cricklewood Remixes, Beneath the Valley of the Modulars, and Room Tone) and a split CD with Sian. Sam Shalabi is a member of both Molasses and Shalabi Effect, as well as close to a dozen other projects. He is hands down Montreal's busiest improviser. Following this trio release, Sam's main project, Shalabi Effect will release the follow up to their very successful debut double CD. Alexandre St-Onge is also a member of Shalabi Effect and he appeared on Fly Pan Am's first record. He has also released a solo CD for Alien8 Recordings entitled Image/Négation and a second solo release for Switzerland's Namskeio label.

The sound of these three musicians is a mixture of electronics with bowed bass and prepared guitar and oud. The results are quite impressive. Many may consider it unlikely that such a combination of instruments could successfully blend into something interesting and enjoy
