L'Altra

Enter phase one from L'altra. The three songs on this record were recorded at a variety of spaces spanning September 1998 through March 1999. Most of String Theory was recorded at Chicago Trax during the blizzard Chicago experienced in the winter of '99, which dropped 2 feet of snow on the city! Colding Fields and Until Sun were recorded at Truckstop and Sadhu studios respectively and were mastered by Mike Hagler (who recorded most of L'altra's music of a sinking occasion record) at Kingsize.

The three songs on this recording were recorded during the period of time when Marc Hellner (pulseprogramming) was with the band. These songs are all very different from one another and each tends to have its own feel to it. Colding Fields starts slow with melodica and shakers, and is then joined by the entire band. Until Sun is a sparse and delicate song which contains no drums or bass. String Theory is what you can call the epic of the record and a constanly evolving song. Together, the three make for a great ep of music, and give one a good sense of the variety of songs L'altra write.

The 10inch was layed out by Hans Seeger (Designed Daniel Givens and Pulseprogramming's full lengths) with the photography taken by Joseph Costa (of L'altra). The cdep comes in the same quick sleeve packaging as the Isotope 217 ep.
