2010, self-released
'Connecticut trio Eula release their fifth EP, Language of Threat. As a female fronted art-school rock band, there are immediate comparisons that will be made with Eula. The first is to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. While there is a small amount of Yeah Yeah Yeahs audible in Eula's songs, their music seems a little more manic than that. The EP's opening track "Housewolf" evokes the sound of Deerhoof. On "Rosie," Eula channels the Pixies' "Vamos." "Nothing New" sounds like something off of Sonic Youth's Washing Machine. The EP's closing track "Right Riff" reminds me of something out of the X-Ray Spex catalog. Language of Threat ends up being a very strong EP. Its manic energy is contagious.' - Adam Morgan / Surviving the Golden Age
