Volume One (book)
Legal Action Comics, a 256-page paperback
featuring comic strips by over seventy of the
cartooning worldΉs top talents, makes its debut this July.
Featuring legendary contributors such as Robert Crumb,
Pulitzer prize winner Art Spiegelman, Robert Williams,
Kim Deitch, Mary Fleener, Gary Panter, Spain Rodriguez, Jay Lynch, Tony Millionaire, Kaz, Julie Doucet, and dozens of other renowned cartoonists, Legal Action Comics is by far the most eagerly-anticipated comics event of the season. With its appealing blend of diverse cartooning styles and offbeat humor, Legal Action Comics carries on in the tradition of ground-breaking underground comics milestones like Zap Comix and Raw.
Legal Action Comics is the brainchild of editor
Danny Hellman, a well-established cartoonist and editorial illustrator whose work has appeared regularly in a wide variety of publications including: Time; Sports Illustrated; The Wall Street Journal; Newsweek; New York Press; and The Nation. Hellman has been the curator for over a decade of the yearly Cartoon Show at Max Fish, a central event in the New York cartooning community. Hellman initially conceived the Legal Action Comics project as a fund-raiser to benefit his legal defense fund related to his civil litigation involving editorial cartoonist Ted Rall. Originally envisioned as a humble 32-page comic book, Legal Action Comics quickly swelled to the status of overstuffed trade paperback due to the high volume of choice submissions from the top names in
the world of comics.
