Two Dollar Guitar is an odd project, bringing together members of Half Japanese, Mosquito, Cell, and Sonic Youth to turn out a thoroughly odd take on dark, primitive and country-edged rock minimalism. Despite the organic and familiar conventions the project starts with, the members manage to move every track into uncomfortably strange territory, a tendency which will doubtlessly appeal to many as the band's greatest strength, while sending many others running. ~ Nitsuh Abebe, All Music Guide
