2009, New Words
"Bashfully bittersweet shoegaze from Los Angeles that wear their hearts on every inch of their body. Sounds like: Programmed beats, droning, washed out guitars and softly whispered vocals. As if Sweden's The Radio Dept. dropped the cold, Scandinavian front and embraced their inner lovesick puppy. . . the sort of dreamy indie pop that boys want to make and girls want to fall in love with; with synths that ooze romance, guitar lines straight out of New Order's Power, Corruption and Lies and vocals that provide as much warmth as a bearskin rug by an open fire." - Earworm, MuchMusic.com

John CleavesFound these guys off Pitchfork. I haven't heard the album yet but the songs I have heard are amazing. Think Shoegaze but a little poppier with electronic elements.

Rachel MelvilleOne of my favorite albums of 2009, Letting Up Despite Great Faults has done it again. More rock and dance flavored than their first album, Movement, their soothing melodies prove it just as enchanting. Made its way into my "stuff I listen to while working" playlist but now have to fight tapping my foot along with the beat. Good thing I work alone.
If you're into Death Cab, Postal Service, Radio Dept, Jeniforever, M83, etc, this album is a must have for 2009!
