Leveler

With his second album "Leveler," Burd Early provides a diverse collection of songs, some toe tapping, others' slow motion, and some frozen. You will hear the sound of Mr. Early’s fingers touching the guitar strings as he mourns disconnection on “Street from the Sea,” and the "Skip" Spence-esque electric guitar cutting slowly through “Screening.” You will feel a Middle Eastern desert breeze when you hear the violin on “Tangent,” and be lulled to sleep by electronic crickets on “Casual Listener.” These songs are minimal and sparse, yet also lush and intricate at the same time. His vocals are intimate and arresting, as he breaks down and rises up again in his songs. "Leveler" reminds us that those with nothing left to lose have a whole lot to gain.
