Fins to Make Us More Fish-like (CDep)
This three-track EP released on limited 10" vinyl and CD features two brand-new studio recordings: "Pillars Were Hollow And Filled With Candy So We Tore Them Down," as well as "Grown Men Don't Fall In The River, Just Like That," a re-recorded version of one of the highlights of their critically acclaimed debut album, "They Threw Us All In A Trench And Stuck A Monument On Top." Engineered & produced by Steve Revitte (JSBX/Beastie Boys), "Pillars Were Hollow And Filled With Candy So We Tore Them Down" features the sound of a discontinued '80s electronic children's toy operated by bassist Pat Nature, while "Grown Men Don't Fall In The River, Just Like That" marks the saxophone debut of guitarist, Aaron Hemphill.

| This CD is so whoa I am not kidding. Even though it's only three songs it's still pretty punchy, overall. While nothing much compares to the bombastic new-wave punk of the opening track, "Pillars Were Hollow and Filled With Candy" the whole thing retains the spirit of that song. "Every Day is a Child With Teeth" is noisy and frightening, while the alternate version of "Grown Men Don't Fall Into the River Just Like That" is raw and super-crazy. Liars-4-Eva. | |
