They Were Wrong, So We Drowned (CD)
The highly anticipated sophomore album from NYC's own LIARS! "They Were Wrong, So We Drowned" sees the band take their creativity and twisted genius even further with this most poignant and chilling ghost story. A dark, noisy romp full of menace and artful, brilliant chaos. It's a record from a band in transition, defining themselves only in terms of what they wish to achieve, the limits of their imagination.

| They Were Wrong So We Drowned is definitely pretty hard to listen to at first. ''Broken Witch'' is a pretty abrassive first track, and it asks a lot of the listener to keep pushing through this album. ''Steam Rose from the Lifeless Cloak'' doesn't do much to help the situation either. Luckily, at track three you'll get the first approachable song on this album. ''There's Always Room on the Broom'' is a groovy, distorted, and actually fun song. The only thing is, it and ''They Don't Want Your Corn - They Want your Kids'' are probably the only tracks that could be considered ''fun'' on this album. But rest assured, if you can push forward and make through a couple of listens you'll probably end up liking most of this album. Granted, it probably is Liars worst album, but at least it was a stepping stone for Drum's Not Dead. | |
