The Saddest Landscape have crafted a sound that successfully encompasses both the rawest of hardcore and the more melodic side of the early DC sound. Imagine Blast! merging with Soulside or Rites of Spring. And while "Lift Your Burdens High for This Is Where We Cross" honors their contemporaries, it also draws a distinct influence from some of the architects of modern hardcore and, dare we say, emo. Playing this disc is almost like going back fifteen years, right down to the recording. The only thing missing from this disc is the hiss, pop, and crackle of a worn-out needle upon vinyl.
