2008, Interscope
Black Tide falls somewhere between a band like Sanctity and Trivium who have some thrash metal tendencies, feature some fantastic mudslinging guitar work and melodic powerful vocals. The kicker with Black Tide is that the band is comprised of kids between the ages of 14 to 19 years old. Together with producer Johnny K (Disturbed) and a handful of songs they have unleashed their debut album Light From Above. The album is as solid as they come and should earn them loads of fans, while these guys aren't as road tested and the average band, make no mistake these guys have had some experience as they played last year's Ozzfest on the main stage no less. Singer/guitarist Gabriel Garcia sounds like a youthful Dave Mustaine that has been raised on arena rock. I don't split atoms for a living but even I can see that Black Tide will do very well in 2008. For proof just listen to the track "Shockwave" and their cover of the once mighty Metallica's "Hit The Lights." -cravemagazine.com
