1996, Mud Records
'Lonely Trailer is another posthumous package collecting the works of a relatively unknown post-punk outfit from Urbana/Champaign, Illinois -- as with fellow Urbana/Champaign bands like the Vertebrats and the Outnumbered, the obvious reference points for the music in this 2-disc set are the Replacements, Mission of Burma, and Husker Du. Lonely Trailer's work might not be quite as good as that of the Vertebrats or the Outnumbered (or more recognized acts in the same vein), but that's not really the point -- the compilation simply offers an unremembered slice of post-punk Americana, and as such, it's fairly interesting.
