The Strangest Things is the major label debut of New York's Longwave. Initially discovered while opening for the Strokes at Maxwell's in Hoboken, Longwave have gone on to tour the US and Europe with the aforementioned Strokes, The Vines, Ok Go!, and The Donnas. The Strangest Things, produced by Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev producer Dave Fridmann is already garnering high praise for the band, with Rolling Stone touting them as "one of New York's hottest live bands," and England's NME simply saying "FUCKING AMAZING."

| Longwave's music can heal. I had a painful burn that went away after I touched the speakers out from which "Wake Me When It's Over" was pumping. The gorgeous, sweeping guitars and, high concept goodness also helped my cat. He had this fear of my new couch. But when "I Know It's Coming Someday" was playing, he seemed comfortable approaching it. Now he and the couch are good friends, all thanks to Longwave. I have friends who say they've seen Longwave walk on water. No kidding. It was on that river that runs through Boston, whatever it's called. And they've healed lepers. I think you can put it all together. Buy this album, and win the approval of the deity. So let it be written...so let it be done. | |
